A chapter case is filed after two or more non-cognisable offences are registered against a person. The police keep a watch on the person so that he/she does not commit a major crime. They also take a surety bond signed by the person.
The chapter case has been filed against Nikii after four non-cognisable offences and two first information reports were registered against her (for forgery and cheque-bouncing). The four NCs were filed in 2005 and 2006.
The first FIR came last May and the second was as directed by the Andheri metropolitan court to Versova police in August to investigate the case.
The Kingfisher Swimsuit Special Calendar 2007 — The French Riviera was unveiled on December 3 by Mallya, chairman, UB Group, on board a majestic yacht.
The calender features six models, Deepti Gujral, Shamita Singha, Nikii Daas (real name Nikii D’Souza), Mia Udeya, Bruna Abdalah and Selma Lasrado.
Past cases
Film producers Maann Singh Deep and wife Kalya-ani had filed a case against Nikii for a cheque of Rs 17.5 lakh that bounced last year. Later, they filed a case against her for threatening them, a case of forgery and for making a false complaint against them.
Mallya told MiD DAY yesterday, “My calendar features no model who has a criminal record.”
Nikki insisted the producer wants to ruin her career. “All cases against me have been cleared. The producers are harassing me. The chapter case has come because they keep filing NCs against me, but it is also solved,” said Nikii.
Deep and Kalyani said they could not comment “as the cases are in court”.
The Versova police is yet to take any action against Nikii as directed by the Andheri metropolitan court in August. Investigating officer Hemant Gosave said, “We will record her statement soon.”
